The chipbreaker finishing tool is designed for high speed part cut out, slotting, and grooving operations when machining dense, multi-layered fibrous materials like plywood and solid wood. The 3 flute chipbreaker design effectively breaks up material resulting in a smooth top edge and side edge finish. The downshear cutting action puts maximum downward pressure on the material minimizing or eliminating part movement. Downshear tools should never be used for plunging or drilling movements as heat will quickly build up resulting in a fire.
