Notch Diagram for Face Frame Cabinets

The Notch Diagram for Face Frame below is for reference when switching from older curved face frame application base plates by Mepla to newer ones.

The diagram shows how the curved cut out for the base plate is supposed to look in order to replace the updated version with the older version flat base plate. To accomplish this look, it requires the cutting of the cabinet.

We recommend that a mock up of the application be done before actually making any alterations to the actual cabinet.

The ½” depth of the cut and the 2 ¼” length of the cut is only a starting point and may need to be altered to accommodate different scenarios or to match a particular overlay.

NOTE: You can measure your overlay by closing the door and putting a pencil mark on the face of the cabinet right next to the edge of the door on the hinge side. Open the door and measure from the inside edge of the cabinet to that mark. This is your overlay.

This link will help explain how to measure overlay: How-To Measure Overlay

In most cases, this application used a Mepla 170* Full Overlay Hinge. The new base plate will be the Mepla 0mm Face Frame Adapter.

Blum also has an updated version of this base plate that was recently re-released. Unfortunately, Cabinetparts.com does not carry this plate. You can contact Blum at 1-800-438-6788 for assistance with this base plate.
