Pulling the handle moves the closet rod out and down, with the lift's movement controlled by a self-regulating system that prevents uncontrolled swinging.     These things are high quality. Relatively easy to install and work great. The jury is still out on whether or not I should have gotten the lighter strength ones. There was a shipping issue due to the carrier. Cabinetparts took care of it faster than expected.
