The product is excellent, however the directions were less than clear. I would suggest taking each set of instructions and have an outside individual try to assemble the product without coaching. When he or she gets stuck, rewrite that portion of the instruction.

The parts for my Tambour Door Kit arrived in fairly quick order but I found the instructions (printed in the tiniest font possible and difficult to read) pretty challenging to understand. After some difficulty I finally managed to interpret the instructions but then discovered that the two plastic rail guides were only marginally effective and spring on the wooden dowel connecting them was far too weak to perform the simple function of rolling the door panel up. The design needs a stronger spring or possible an additional one. I am stuck with this now because I already stained the wood to match my cabinet doors. But I am looking for a better one to replace this one. Too bad, because it really would not cost much for the manufacturer to improve the design of this one.

I actually mounted these doors sideways and they work great.. just remember to add extra tension to the spring to compensate for the lack of gravity assist.. only issue was the rails were of soft plastic and were not straight..but not a big enough issue to take away from the product..

The door is great, but the installation instructions are very difficult to understand. I realize that a carpenter may have not had a problem, but for people buying this off the internet, the instructions need to be more clear. Once in (after weeks of attempts in my free time) it did look great.

As a DIY novice carpenter, I found the instructions a bit confusing. Also there was a screw missing, but the instructions contained the dimensions, so it was a minor inconvenience solved easily by going to the hardware store.
