    I successfully found a replacement for a hinge that failed on an expensive name brand console. The broken hinge gave no clues as to its maker. But after a learning experience using to order a replacement that would not work, I looked in the European hinges for an "Inset door." That narrowed the search to just a few. Today I installed the new hinges (2) and the base (sold separately). Done! The hinges and base plates came in separate packages on different days, but the total elapsed time was about a week. I gave them a 4 star because I thought the online selection process required considerable learning time.

    I wanted hinges that would not resist the force of spring loaded catches I installed on the backs of hidden doors i had built. Self closing hinges wouldn't work, but these free-swing hinges worked exactly as needed.

    I was able to find the exact hinge needed to replace broken hidden Soss hinges in a Martha Washington cabinet. The price was reasonable. It did take a while to ship out (ordered May 15, shipping notice June 2) but then arrived quickly once shipped.
