Tiomos Impresso 160 degree Half Overlay Hinge, Soft Close

The hinge on our most used cabinet door finally wore out after twenty plus years. I found what I needed at Cabinet Parts and was able to replace it myself after watching a YouTube video.

I purchased this item as a replacement for an older model. Alas, the mounting holes did not quite align with the older model. I will perform some minor metalwork and try to make do with it, because the hardware does do exactly what I want, but as a drop-in replacement for an older model, it's close, but no cigar.

I was a bit concerned when I first started this project. Our existing cabinet hinges are over 25 years old, installed during our original kitchen remodel, and we had no original documentation for reference. The part itself is fine, but it is listed by the manufacturer as being a replacement for a discontinued older version, part #1006-30 manufactured by Grass. The new hinge in unfortunately too close to being a match, but not a match. The screw holes for mounting the part are half a screw width wider than those for the original part, so they cannot be used, and the overlap makes drilling new holes impossible. You would have to patch the prior mounting holes and then attempt to drill new ones half overlapping your fill. Like I said, close but no cigar, so I only recommend these hinges for new applications where they would be fine.
